Speaking of things most of us have forgotten (or never knew) re: #BastilleDay :
the #EiffelTower was built not just for a world fair, but for one that was to honor the centennial of the #FrenchRevolution and the political and moral as well as technological progress since then.
Many small souvenir items, such as #medals and tokens, made the connection
My favorite, though, has to be a paper knife with the handle in the shape of the Tower
