I just got off the phone with a local wildlife rehabilitator. A raven friend with a broken wing has been making the rounds in our yard and our neighbor's yard (it seems one of our neighbors called the rehabilitator as well). Unfortunately, all we can do is provide some yummy food in an accessible location, so that's what we'll do. Off to buy more suet, since they're liking the "treats" I've been making for my corvid friends (suet mixed with peanuts and sunflower seeds). Hopefully, our friend will recover...

When I worked in Canada there was a huge artic raven who would come by the office every day to share my lunch. I've loved ravens every since. I always talk to them and imitate their calls. I just had an amazing experience. One of the ravens that live at our place settled in a piñón tree and started imitating my calls. A stream of nonsense syllables followed by that bubbly laugh they do. It was great! #birds #ravens
