C.<p>With the continued and expanding rumbles about conquering Canada coming out of the USA administration, I would like to remind Americans about a feature of their <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/constitution" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>constitution</span></a>. </p><p>This isn't aimed at MAGA voters, who aren't well represented in the fediverse. This is for the <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/sane" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sane</span></a> voters of the USA.</p><p>The power to declare <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/war" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>war</span></a> - or to start an undeclared war, for that matter - is reserved to the legislative branch, not the executive. The <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/president" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>president</span></a> does not have the legal right to launch attacks against a peaceful neighbour.</p><p>The danger here is that the <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Republican" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Republican</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/congress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>congress</span></a> and <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/senate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>senate</span></a> have essentially rolled over to do Trump's bidding, abdicating their roles in the government to produce an all-powerful <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/king" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>king</span></a>.</p><p>So to those sane <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Americans" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Americans</span></a>, please contact your congressman and your senator. Tell them in no uncertain terms that they must not acquiesce to any attempt by the White House to get them to approve a declaration of war. Tell them that if the administration decides to bypass congress and just go to war, they must impeach the president, vice-president, secretary of defence, and anyone else involved in such a plan.</p><p>The <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/USA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>USA</span></a> going to war against a peaceful neighbour will not do what Trump thinks it will. It will hurt the USA as much as <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Canada" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Canada</span></a>, and greatly affect the west in general, weakening them and their NATO allies, making Europe an easier target for Putin -- which of course is the whole idea.</p><p>Please, for the good of the western world...</p>
