If Americans can take Abortions away from Women after 40 years the Brits will surely reinstate Section 28 after 21 years.

They'll reply to the problem of Trans kid suicides by saying it's Queer People's fault for giving them 'bad ideas' and the way to solve that is to ban Queer people talking to Queer Youth, ie Section 28 again.
And it'll happen with barely a squeak in the Press, because they've always hated Queers.
They get a Queer to harm trans youth, then he uses is own experience of institutionalized bigotry with Section 28 to justify doing the same to Trans Youth, then proclaiming his is the fountain of all knowledge on trans matters and everyone else is being political.
This is what Britain looks like to me, a bitter hateful lie and if you want to progress in this awful culture you must become a bigot, you MUST
@rachel I hate that man, I lived through Section 28 like he did and to see him twist that experience and use it to harm trans kids is to me the act of an evil man and I hope bad things happen to this guy.
Fuck this Queer traitor cunt
using the pain of our lives under Section 28 to justify doing the same to Trans Children
I wish the Cancer had killed Wes Streeting, he is so disgusting to me I would like to see him suffer and die

— the English translation of which was the primary excuse given for #Section28 , which banned an entire class of books, other materials, and verbal discussion in schools for over a decade.
I missed the anniversary of the repeal of #Section28 - well, in the majority of the UK - Kent, where I grew up being the exception.
I thought I’d share this #BlogPost I wrote about the effects of Section 28 on me personally, and why I do what I do in #ELT and #Education.

By the way, it was 21 years ago today that #Section28 was finally repealed in England & Wales.
@Patricia This old ugly Thatcher? She and others made laws forbidding promotion of lesbian/gay organisations. #section28
That was/is a sort of britain fascism.
Some EU countries try to rollback many human and queer rights.
We should fear #fascism coming dressed as #democracy
Today is #ComingOutDay.
I was 12 when I first realised that I was attracted to girls as well as boys.
I was 16 before I heard the term bisexual (#RepresentationMatters, people! Also, #Section28 was utter shit).
I was 19 when I came out to my immediate family. There are still extended family members who have no idea.
I still regularly have to come out to people who assume that because I'm a cisgender woman married to a cisgender man, I must be straight.
But the British State IS Racist, you're basically asking the British State not to be British.
'Britain' is an institutionally racist endeavour, being British will make you racist.
I reject it totally, like it rejected Queer me when I was a teen. Section 28 you British fucks, you've never apologised and you never will. I'm not part of your little cult and I never will be.
However, Kent County Council decided to create their own version of Section 28 to keep the effect of the now-repealed law in their schools. This was replaced on 16 December 2004 with provisions stating that heterosexual marriage and family relationships are the only firm foundations for society, saying: "We will ensure that sex education values family and marriage as the foundation of a civilised society, and a firm basis for the nurturing of children". 2/2
On 24 May 1988 the Local Government Act 1988 including Section 28 came into effect. Section 28 was a legislative designation for a series of laws across Britain that prohibited the "promotion of homosexuality" by local authorities. It caused many organisations such as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender student support groups to close, limit their activities or self-censor. It was taken off the statute book in 18 September 2003. 1/2
@workingclasshistory At least some adults cared. Most of them didn't but some did.
As a queer child of Section 28 I can never forgive those who did nothing.
#OnThisDay, 23 May 1988, four women storm the BBC news studio whilst the news is live on air, protesting the introduction of Section 28. Section 28 banned the “promotion of homosexuality” by local government in the UK, and was intended to stop LGBT+ campaigns for equal rights.
It was not repealed until 2003.

Oh look. #Section28 has just returned via the backdoor, which is how a lot of unpleasantness takes root in the #UK these days.
"...Government sources told BBC News about plans to ban sex education for under-nines [in #England], as well as teaching about gender identity, on Wednesday.
"Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said the new guidance would ensure children were not 'exposed to disturbing content'..."
@vagina_museum Section 28 stole my queer youth, I didnt come out until my late 20s.
I shall never forgive Britain for doing that to me, nor the generations who just let it happen.
For every Sir Ian Mckellan there were 100 Brits looking the other way.
No, I will never forgive the British
#section28
I grew up with Section 28 so I understand where Olly is coming from, Queer kids need protection from the British Education system, and it looks like Section 28 is coming back
