Ugh, friends: The Library of Congress has posted a notice that it may change the subject headings for Denali and the Gulf of Mexico to, yup, Mt. McKinley and the Gulf of America. This is not good. TODAY is the deadline for comment. More info on this subreddit thread, including a link for submitting a comment. #libraries #subjectheadings #LibraryofCongress

A crowd-sourced list of many “problem Library of Congress Subject Headings” can be interacted with on the Cataloging Lab wiki. Those who want to provide feedback on proposals being considered can follow what new & changed subject headings are under discussion on LC’s “Tentative Monthly Lists.” (Yes, the TML have future dates available to see - since they're tentative, they're still draft versions.)

A gray marble arch leading from the Great Hall to the Reading Room at the Library of Congress. In marble on either side of the arch are carvings of two men. On the left is a young student looking at a scroll, on the right is an older man with a beard looking at a stone tablet. Above the arch are the words “Library of Congress.” inscribed in gold.
