Yvonne PerkinsI have picked up my knitting for the 1st time in months. It is hot outside but I have the air-conditioning on so knitting is OK.I was looking after my 9 year old grand-daughter and having a quiet afternoon. I have been teaching her to knit, but like me, she has stopped doing it over summer. I thought I would encourage her to get back to it if I resumed my knitting. Sure enough, she got her knitting out. She has only been knitting for a short while so understandably could not quite remember, but she picked it up again quickly after I showed her a few stitches, then watched her.I am knitting a kangaroo and joey. Since I was a child I have always wanted to do this - inspired by Kanga in Winnie the Pooh. Coincidentally last night I just finished reading her the 1st book of Winnie the Pooh. It has such a sophisticated story telling technique for a children's book. It is ideal for older children. As a reader it is important to get all the voices of the characters right and know which character is speaking.
