The ruling in Lawrence v Texas had been announced that morning, and one of the forum organizers derailed the whole event by weeping at the podium, imploring the gathering to instead vote on a resolution condemning the ruling and “protecting marriage” because it was “URGENT!” We decided on the spot to found an LGBTQ advocacy group.</p>
