Many of those providers are still struggling with depression, burnout, and post-traumatic stress disorder ... In a new clinical trial, researchers from the University of Washington studied whether psilocybin therapy could help. It did.'

The state maintains the cases are fundamentally different. But advocates say they reflect long-running problems with how the state cares for people in its custody."

@CStamp People that have never experienced deep depression don't know how lucky they are.
If you (not *you*, Carolyn 😊) are one of those people, try this on for size: During my last major depressive episode (10 years ago now), I was in the best physical shape of my life, had a good job, no significant debt, you name it. (Well, no, not everything was great at the time. I digress.)

Still, my depression inflicted a mental pain that was worse than if you had told me my parents had died, my dog was hit by a car, and my house had burned down. I have a data point for that, as around that time one of my parents almost died. This was before the depressive episode, so the bad feeling I had about it wasn't too affected by my mental health. They're still going, by the way, just had their 90th birthday 😊 👍🏻

Can you imagine that? Feeling worse, for no apparent reason, than you would if real tragedy struck? Not to mention the lack of sympathy from others because of that very fact? That's depression. When I hear someone suffered, and has commited suicide, I understand them.
