In the breakdown of #mixtec #weapons, the percent of ranged weapons was far more than melee weapons with sabres making up another large chunk.
The paper argues that the #sword could just be scribes making it look cool, when you pair it with the ranged weapons it could imply the Mixtecs could capture someone in battle, their weapons are mainly designed for long range combat to kill.
The only way to know for sure is excavation on Mixtec sites. (2/2)
