Candace Robb

Just started reading Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sower & so far I'm in awe of & chilled by her prescience.
And, no, I don't know how I'm just reading it now, but better late than never. She was such a remarkable writer.

@CandaceRobbAuthor @bookstodon I loved those books! Though it was so weird to go back to California after a decade away. When reading the books I’d thought she had made so much of it up out of her mind, but there they were, the gated communities and the “people crossing” signs, and I wanted to weep from despair.

I had the same feeling when I first found her 5 or so years ago loved it, but was like "how did I not know about her 25 years ago?"

Think of your situation as being 1 of today's 10,000.

@CandaceRobbAuthor @bookstodon I came to Octavia Butler late too, starting with Kindred (a masterpiece)––I console myself by telling myself that some of the classics are best appreciated when one is mature. (#MobyDick, I'm looking at you).
