#OnThisDay in 1968, students at the Tuskegee Institute barricaded the doors of Dorothy Hall during an annual meeting of the Board of Trustees, demanding a number of reforms, typed up in a document called: “General Philosophy: A Black University Concept.”
Governor Lurleen Wallace sent around 300 National Guardsmen to Tuskegee Institute. Thankfully, bloodshed was avoided.
