: a -shaped nutcracker (ha!) & -shaped chocolate mold, found hiding behind doors in little cubby-holes of the “ on the Loose: A Mercer Menagerie” children’s room at the Mercer Museum castle. Cute! Late 19th-early 20th c.?

“I'm a squirrel-shaped nutcracker. I'm made of iron. My tail is a lever. Press it and my jaw will crack the nut. Did you know that gray squirrels can eat one kind of nut that's poisonous to people? It's the acorn (the nut from an oak tree).”
“I'm a rabbit-shaped chocolate mold. A candy-maker poured melted chocolate into me. When it cooled and hardened the chocolate took the shape of the mold.”
