@histodons My mother is from near #Detmold where this famous monument to Hermann/Arminius is. When I was a little girl, I thought his name was Hermann S. Denkmal. This is in my office (given to me by a German family member as gentle teasing, but I've written on ol' Hermy, so there it stays) and I think of that every time I see it. #deutscherinamerika #Ostwestfalen
