You only have to look at what calculators did to our ability to trust ourselves to do simple addition. Imagine what ChatGPT will do.
As far as I can tell from questions I've asked it, ChatGPT is a glorified regurgitating engine that's not particularly good at differentiating what is endlessly repeated and not true from what is actually true.
@sal I agree that these systems have immense potential for harm, but I think this article takes too credulous a view of how well they actually work. #1 and #2 are real. Many of the other four points seem implausible to me because the system is basically snake oil.
