The Civilization 5 "Hall Of Fame" is our everlasting collection of the highest scoring games for #Civ5. You can always submit your savegames to dethrone the current point leader, but regularly we also challenge you to play specific games. And now is the time again!

In the G-Major CLIII we challenge you to play a game as William of the Netherlands on a huge "Great Plains Plus" map on Emperor level. You need to win via a science victory, but much of the other variables are free. The deadline is March 31. For details please check here forums.civfanatics.com/threads

In the G-Minor CCXXVI we challenge you to play as Elizabeth of England on a standard size Frontier map on King difficulty. Here you must win via Domination, and most other parameters are free. Deadline is also March 31st. For details please check here forums.civfanatics.com/threads

And also for #Civ5 you are getting a new challenge from us this month: In this "Game Of The Month" you play as Boudicca of the Celts on a standard size British Isles map on Settler level (so this game is accessible for everyone). You need to win via a Science victory, and must prevent all other civs from achieving another victory at the same time. You have until April 2 to finish this challenge. For more info and the savegame please see this thread: forums.civfanatics.com/threads

@WanderingInDigitalWorlds they're working on it, and all civ games have worked out so far, so I have some confidence :).

Since you said you can't get #Civ5 running via Proton: In case the graphics are not the most important thing for you, then give UnCiv a try github.com/yairm210/Unciv :). It's an open source implementation of Civ5. I don't know if all the mechanics are completely faithfully implemented, but it plays well :).

Oops - I did again #Civ5 - with Attila! - aiming for space victory!

Really like the random map so far. Solid continent which I only share with weak Denmark ;) Even if I play normally peaceful, Kaupang was razed to the ground early on.
Denmark won't be in the game by midnight.

Was my first "productive" evening in two weeks or so. Not into reading, blogging or whatever recently. Often just lazying around watching old parkrun photos or such.

The Hall Of Fame is an ongoing competition for the highest scores in every setting in #Civ5. You are always free to send in your highest scoring savegames, but sometimes we give you specific challenges for settings which are underrepresented.

This time we want you to do the following 2 gauntlets:

For the G-Major CLII we challenge you to play as Suleiman of the Ottomans on a small "small continents" map on Emperor level and to win via a domination victory. The deadline for this gauntlet is February 28. For more information please check this thread: forums.civfanatics.com/threads

For the G-Minor CCXXV we challenge you to play as Ramessess II of Egypt on a standard size continents map on quick speed with Prince difficulty. You also need to win via diplomacy. The deadline here is also February 28. For more information please check here: forums.civfanatics.com/threads

Firaxis has released another dev diary today, and they are talking about "legends & mementos". Firaxis wants to make it more fun to play through any game of civ. In #Civ5 and #Civ6 this was helped by achievements. But for #Civ7, the devs thought of more. You will be able to keep track of your whole progress over games, what things you have achieved, what things you have failed, what leaders you have played, and more. You can see if you're a master at playing one civ, but rather not-so-good at another. You want to know more about this new system? Then visit our thread here: forums.civfanatics.com/threads

And in the new year we also continue to task you with a new #Civ5 challenge each month with a new "Game Of The Month"!

This time the team has prepared the following: We want you to play as Washington on a standard size Fractal map on Deity difficulty. You must win this game with a culture victory, and you got as usual one month time until January 31. For more info and the savegame please check this thread: forums.civfanatics.com/threads

If you want to claim your place in the eternal #Civ5 "Hall Of Fame" at CivFanatics, then now you got another chance! While we always accept your best-scoring game to be listed, we also like to give you specific challenges to tackle. This time we have these 2 for you:

In the G-Major CLI we want you to play a One-City-Challange as Darius I of Persia on a duel sized map against Babylon. It must be an ice-age map on Marathon speed on Immortal level, and you must win via diplomacy. For more info, please check this thread: forums.civfanatics.com/threads

For the G-Minor CCXXIV we want you to play as Harald of Denmark on a tiny fractal map. The difficulty level is Chieftain, and you must win via a culture victory. For more info please check this thread: forums.civfanatics.com/threads

The Baltimore Banner has just before Christmas ran a title called "How Baltimore County became a hidden world of video game companies".
As many of you know, Baltimore is the home to our most important gaming studio, Firaxis, but not only that. Its predecessor, Microprose, was also situated in Baltimore, and more recently also many things have happened there. Firaxis personnel has spawnd other studios like "Big Huge Games", which were responsible for "Rise of Nations", and very recently Oxide Games, which has developed "Ara: History Untold". And we don't know yet what games will come from 2 other studious founded by Firaxis employees, Bit Reactor and Midsummer Studios.

GamesRadar has today published an article called "Civ 5 caused a commotion at a space agency its creative director used to work at".
It seems that Ed Beach had worked as a contractor for the NASA, working at the Hubble Space telescope.
It seems that the institute who's dealing with the telescope is sitting in Baltimore, where also Firaxis is, and when Hubble was added in BNW, this made quite some people happy.
