Howards End. By E.M. Forster.

You are a young, modestly rich ‘new money’ woman, at the turn of the prior century, orphaned with your younger siblings and modern (for the times) in ways that an old money English family can’t really comprehend; when your family becomes oddly entangled with them and a far less genteel family, cultures collide invisibly and with utter destruction (for some, guess who?).

The #UK government has announced significant NHS reforms to reduce bureaucracy, improve patient care, and make savings. #NHS #England will be integrated into the Department of #Health and Social Care (DHSC) to eliminate duplication and streamline operations. These changes aim to reduce red tape, reallocate resources to frontline services, and give local leaders more control to meet community needs. The reforms, part of the government’s Plan for Change, focus on cutting waiting times, increasing digital services, and shifting care from hospitals to communities. NHS leadership, including Sir Jim Mackey and Dr Penny Dash, will lead the transformation, ensuring a more efficient and patient-focused NHS.

The Skiff La Yole 1875 Renoir The National Gallery London England

This sunlit scene on the river Seine is typical of the imagery that has come to characterise Impressionism, and Renoir includes several familiar Impressionist motifs such as fashionably dressed women, a rowing boat, a sail boat, and a steam train crossing a bridge.

The former Augustinian Gisborough Priory, was founded in 1119 as the Priory of St Mary by Robert de Brus, an ancestor of the Scottish king, Robert the Bruce.
It's situated in the small attractive market town of Guisborough, which as you can see, has evolved a slightly different spelling.
You wouldn't think it now, but this was once one of the richest monastic foundations in England.
Now in the care of English Heritage, the ruins of Gisborough Priory are regarded as among the finest surviving examples of early Gothic architecture in England.
Unfortunately, there's not a great deal left of what once was and I read that the only reason this bit is still standing is because it was thought to be an attractive backdrop to some gardens that were added later!
