Morning all. Here’s the first recorded advertisement for coffee, from London in 1652. ‘The Vertue of the COFFEE-Drink’.

You can imagine the nuclear impact of coffee hitting society amid turmoil in the wake of the Civil War. The authorities hated it - they figured that a drunk revolutionary was easier to control than a hyped-up one - and demonized & tried to ban coffee-houses. And Charles II’s era was one of manic night-owl partying.
