#ThursDeath time. I've massively dug Nashville, Tennessee's ACT OF IMPALEMENT since I first ran across them in 2023. Their record that year was one of my top favorites, metal or otherwise. This year, they have a new LP, 'Profane Altar', and it's RIDICULOUSLY great (of course). 8 tracks of crushing, brutal war metal you won't want to miss. The Department of #Chemistry at Middle #Tennessee State #University was honored to host the 2025 President of the American Chemical Society and Nashville native, Dr. Dorothy Phillips. She gave an inspiring presentation on her “Journey to Leadership in the ACS” to kick-off #WomensHistoryMonth at #MTSU. In the large in-person and Zoomed-in audience were faculty and students, members of the #Nashville Section of the #ACS, and members of her extended family.

Night two with Gabapentin. I tried a full 600mg before bed and that got me to almost 5am before the pain became too much to sleep. If I finesse my timing, I think I can get a full night's sleep with this.

Huge victory over my malingering spinal discs and arthritis.

Still need to schedule an MRI but I will survive long enough to get one, I think.

Another VA appt today to get my fretting hand looked at. There are some weird bony growths on some knuckles.

Today's physical was a 13.7km/8.5mi walk in 7C/45F temps. The average was 8'57" per km and the old heart rate was a moderately moderate 113 BPM (75%).
Today's mental was sitting in a cafe, dressed in black, on the rive gauche drinking and smoking with Jean Paul and Simone, talking about the diff between existential dread and existential anxiety.

This was taken in #Nashville during the last #SolarEclipse. It was also one of the last times I saw my Nonny alive

The picture depicts a total solar eclipse. Most of the sky is completely dark. The sun is a dark void surrounded by a white flame that seems to glow without illuminating anything. In the bottom right, the sun is just barely peaking through, appearing as a bright flare. In the background you can see various stars. They each have a visibly different color, but they are faint enough that you might miss them if you weren't looking. Each star appears with a slight double image, because I was shaking the camera a bit too much

Nashville Sunset

This image of Nashville Sunset was captured from the norteastern end of the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge that crosses the Cumberland River. The riverfront is in plain view and just beyod the riverbank is the Honky Tonk Highway, or it's real name Broadway.
The sun has already set but it is throwing a crazy orange and yellow glow off of the clouds above the city.

Nashville Sunset This is an image of the Nashville skyline captured as the sun was setting. The foreground of the image is the Cumberland River. On the far bank of the river is the Waterfront Park. Beyond the park near the left side of the image is the famous Lower Broadway where most of the bars are located. Beyond that is are the highrise buildings of the financial district. The sun has dropped down below the skyline but the sky is still showing the beautiful dark blues, orange, and yellow from the sunset.
