Editorial question: Do you render text written in non-Latin scripts in italics, in the same way that I'd do with, for example, a phrase in another language that's written in Latin script?
I have a short phrase in Greek (among other scripts), subsequently translated, and am wondering if the italics are necessary since it's obvious it's a different language.

I'd like to convert my handwriting into a font for my research output, as I'd like to maintain my personal handwriting in my sketchnotes but I'd like the written notes to be text.
I'm already very familiar with vector graphics and lettering but never made a font so would love an open source/free font design software to start.
@celiason Reminds of the Jeremy Nguyen cartoon where the optician is pointing at the board with letters in different typefaces, while the person being examined is covering an eye and saying:

Of course, there's a book about it, by Ruth Finnegan (“Why Do We Quote? The Culture and History of Quotation”). I couldn't find an answer to my question, although page 94 comes close. The book is Open Access, so we can all add it to our schlarly collection!

Lustig Cohen’s design career began quite unexpectedly. In 1955 her husband, Alvin Lustig, passed away. At 28 years old and with no formal training, she took on the clients and projects that her husband left behind. She soon established herself as one of the leading designers of the 1950s.
