All in good fun, for more than one reason: 1) one of the greatest + catchiest tunes of that historical moment (not finding a good recording online at the moment, tho I have a nice CD by St. George's Canzona) 2) the lyrics could be mistaken for Puritan if one did not pay close attention/know the context (https://www.musicanet.org/robokopp/english/knowthis.htm).
