The last train journey for today: from #London 
St Pancras International down to #Dover Priory. A #SouthEastern, 225 kph Class 395 #Javelin unit takes us over #HS1 as far as #Ashford International where we board a Class 375 #Electrostar for the 3rd rail section into Dover.
I was particularly lucky when travelling on the #Ashford International to #Hastings #Marshlink Line back in (I think) 2005 or 2006: a lovely 1950s Class 201 #Thumper unit worked the train instead of a more modern Class 171 #Turbostar trainset.

I don't understand the #Eurostar crisis - stations #Ebbsfleet and #Ashford are both south of the Thames so some international services could have run from there? I appreciate they won't have the capacity to fill four trains per hour, but as a stopgap for part of the people affected it might have helped?

Olive wasn't fully on her own, of course, she had her family.
However, even ignoring her reflexive embarassment about her family, her parents and sister didn't live in London any longer.
She still stuck it out in London for a few years but I think she was done with the city by this stage, and didn't move to Norfolk/Suffolk either.
Instead, a close friend had told her about an opportunity for teaching training near the town of #Ashford in #Kent. So off she went with my dad in tow. 25/?
