Just watched #QueenOfTheRing (2024), a movie about the life of a female wrestler named Mildred "Millie" Burke to started wrestling in carnivals when it actually was illegal for women to box or wrestle professionally.

I had to watch it at 8pm on a Wednesday night, which is the last night it was going to be shown at my local AMC, which gives you can idea of how limited the distribution of the film has been, which is a shame because (while it has it's weaknesses), I thought that it was a very entertaining film & I'd give it a 7 out of 10 and will buy the DVD if it's ever released.

A definite "must see" for those who are interested in fighting sports & those who believe that the women should have the same right as men to engage in such sports.

Fast Charlie (2023)

The story is standard fare without much accoutrements, but the two leads make it work. Pierce Brosnan is as charming as ever. Morena Baccarin is also great. Brosnan pulls off some of the lines with a wry sense of humor that was entertaining.

There are bursts of violence scattered throughout a dialogue heavy movie -- with some really great lines performed with spotty Southern accents.

This was an entertaining movie.

Rated 8 out of 10.

Disney live-action movies are often accompanied by grand fanfare, but that's not happening for "Snow White." @Gizmodo explains why Disney is scaling back the movie's launch. "It’s beginning to feel like just another thing Disney has rolled back on to capitulate to conservatives, not unlike Pixar’s 'Win or Lose' trans storyline erasure," writes Sabina Graves.

Gizmodo · Why Is Disney Burying Snow White? As Disney looks to stage a diminished premiere for its latest live-action adaptation, it marks the end of a long and winding road of the studio's similarly long-and-winding lack of confidence in the film.
