CNBCConsumer sentiment tumbles in April as inflation fears spike, University of Michigan survey shows

@Nonilex Trump has no ideology beyond satisfying his own personal needs. He is a raging bull in a china shop. I don’t know what insanity means, exactly, but there are a large number of people who like the way he thinks. Beyond the immediate need to stop Trump, his supporters, benefactors and enablers constitute the larger threat.

“In the last few days, we have had many conversations with macro #fund managers,” wrote Tom Lee, the head of research at the #financial analysis firm FSInsights.

“And their concern is that the White House is not acting rationally, but rather on ideology. And some even fear that this may not even be ideology,” Lee continued. “A few have quietly wondered if the President might be #insane.”

What show have they been watching for the last 9 years?

The premium investors demand to hold #US Treasuries rather than #German #Bunds - now apparently one of the safe havens of choice - has exploded.

It's heading for its biggest weekly increase since the 1990s, which reflects the extent to which investors are dumping #Treasuries.

The dollar is at the heart of it &, with #markets, it's always what's beneath the surface that can cause the most damage.

The main casualty in all this is the #US #dollar.

For 80 years, it's been the mainstay of the #financial system & the ultimate of safe havens, along w/ #Treasuries.

But w/investors now doubting the reliability of the #UnitedStates as a #trading partner & fears creeping in about the stability of the #bond market, the dollar is bearing the brunt.

#China said its new #tariffs would take effect on Saturday.

The world’s two biggest economies have been engaged in a fast-moving tit-for-tat that has seen the cost of trade soar over the past two weeks.

On Friday, China’s top leader, #Xi Jinping, spoke publicly about the tariffs for the first time since Washington & Beijing started hitting each other with progressively higher levies this month.

“There are no winners in a tariff war,” he said.

"Regelsatz soll neu berechnet werden, wobei „neu“ hier nicht wirklich treffend ist. Stattdessen möchten die Koalitionspartner das alte und verstaubte Hartz-IV-Berechnungsmodell wieder herauskramen, welches bei der Bürgergeld Einführung aus gutem Grund ersetzt wurde."

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Austan Goolsbee, who as president of the #Chicago #Fed will vote on policy decisions by the central bank this year, said a 10% tariff on the rest of the world without any exemptions will “materially increase #inflation in the near-term & have a somewhat serious impact upon output.”

The S&P 500 tumbled 3.5% on Thursday, signaling renewed investor concern about the worsening #TradeWar with #China & the destabilizing effects of #Trump’s #tariffs.

Few corners of the stock market were spared from Thursday’s slump. More than 80% of the stocks in the S&P 500 ended the day lower. The energy sector led declines as oil prices tumbled, another harbinger of slowing global growth.
