If you're in the northwest part of the PNW tomorrow there is a march for trans rights in #bellinghamwa on Saturday
@shansterable so #BellinghamWA #bli airport is less safe to fly into and out or six days a month? Is there a discount for flying on those days?

Back in the day when a random guy opened a bootleg #TraderJoes storefront in #VancouverBC by smuggling goods purchased at the TJs in #BellinghamWA... aka "Pirate Joe's"

For my Bellingham transit newsletter-blog sidehobby, I preview the June 2025 WTA bus service changes, which will expand service along a few transit corridors and bring other adjustments.
my band Maneater's Bellingham set went live on YouTube! thanks so much to NastyNW Bootlegs for filming the set, and keeping it analog.
Nice coverage of the Whatcom County chapter of FairVote Washington in the local university paper, The Western Front:
"Post-election gathering sparks hope for democracy in Bellingham: FairVote WA provides a space for discussion on ranked-choice voting and electoral reform"

Now that ballots are arriving in Washington State, please check out the FairVote Washington candidate endorsements, especially for the very important Whatcom County Charter Review Commission: https://fairvotewa.org/candidate-recognition-2024/
I want to support this pilot project adding a bike lane downtown, but it keeps avoiding opportunities to increase cyclist comfort for all ages & abilities.
The latest modification forces a crossover with drivers who want to turn right — while others want to park. (Cyclists are coming from an earlier segment of the street that has parking protected bike lane.)
EDIT TO ADD one possible solution for intersection safety in replies.
The city of Besançon, France has two light rail lines, and they only have a population of 100K, the same as #BellinghamWA
Here's the images I picked for my two 2025 Calendars. For my Bellingham calendar, I picked a misty morning at Lake Padden. I just love the foggy mornings here. And for my Asia calendar, I picked a photo of this amazing tree on the grounds of Angkor Wat. Just love the ancient feel to this tree that cast such an amazing shadow.

Overheard among a group of local teenagers walking down a sidewalk in Bellingham earlier today: "There's this mean old man who owns the bridge from *Chicago* to Canada and is trying to prevent a new public bridge from opening so he gets to keep all the toll money."
I was very tempted to factcheck some geographic details and contextualize a few claims there but I did not.
One of the better roundabout builds in town. This used to be a clunky intersection with stoplights & long waits. Now, even a bike-exit-only lane.
Very cool that this documentary about #RankedChoiceVoting called "Majority Rules" will be screened this weekend at the Pickford Film Center here in #BellinghamWA
