Before COVID, I used to visit dive bars regularly. I have always appreciated the dive bar aesthetic, and I loathe owners' misdirected attempts to "update" them. I took this photo inside Cap Hansen's Bar, downtown Bellingham, WA, in 2018. In this location since 1953, it has seen some remodels over the years while retaining its original charm. #DiveBar #BellinghamWA #Bellingham

I want to support this pilot project adding a bike lane downtown, but it keeps avoiding opportunities to increase cyclist comfort for all ages & abilities.

The latest modification forces a crossover with drivers who want to turn right — while others want to park. (Cyclists are coming from an earlier segment of the street that has parking protected bike lane.)

EDIT TO ADD one possible solution for intersection safety in replies.

Here's the images I picked for my two 2025 Calendars. For my Bellingham calendar, I picked a misty morning at Lake Padden. I just love the foggy mornings here. And for my Asia calendar, I picked a photo of this amazing tree on the grounds of Angkor Wat. Just love the ancient feel to this tree that cast such an amazing shadow.

Overheard among a group of local teenagers walking down a sidewalk in Bellingham earlier today: "There's this mean old man who owns the bridge from *Chicago* to Canada and is trying to prevent a new public bridge from opening so he gets to keep all the toll money."

I was very tempted to factcheck some geographic details and contextualize a few claims there but I did not.
